India a place where goddess are worshiped on one side and on other side women are treated as trash. A women is a mother who spends her whole life loving and binding her family together. She is the source of new life. A women is a wife who works day in and day out without even getting paid. She never gets tired of her daily routine. She is a sister who loves her brother boundlessly and pray for his long life. She is a daughter whose father is her hero. She gives and gives and expects nothing but love in return.
But nowadays every now and then, we see every news channel flashed with the news : a women being molested, raped, a women burnt to death for dowry, women committing suicide because they can't handle the torture, acid thrown on the face of women, female foeticide, domestic violence. News channel are full of news like this.
People blame the girl if something wrong happens to her. Being a girl is not a crime. Its the mentality of the people which make them to think so.
A girl being raped, its her clothes that provoked us. She is not a prey to be fed upon and we are not animals to hunt women. She is cut from the family and treated as inferior. Her family members leave her hands when she needs them the most and they blame her for everything. What's her fault ? Nowadays women wearing suit or saris are raped. Its not the type of clothes we wear , it is the thinking of the animals around us which provoke them to do so.
Dowry a crime, but still girls family give and boys family demand. The need and greed of these filthy animals are not fulfilled in one go so they dowry again and again else the end result we all know. Women committing suicide , newly wed women are found in hospitals burned and few are found as a patient of psychiatrist. 'Kanyadan' , people have forgotten the meaning of this word plus the bond of marriage has become a business proposal for few where demands and need must be fulfilled else the deal comes to an end. Parents give their life- their daughter in the hands of an unknown person hoping the person will love her, protect her and will always keep her happy but what parents get in return is the gift of pain and tears.
'Villages', the place where we think female foeticide was prominent but it is more prominent in cities than villages. Giving birth to a girl child is not in the hands of mother. People consult doctors, do ultrasound and kill the girl child even without taking permission of mother. A mother can't protect her child; she is forced to kill a part of her. If she disagrees to abort her child, she is brutally beaten and her daughter is killed even before she could breathe in this world. Girls and boys hold the same place in the world; people should understand this fact before killing their own child.
Eve teasing has become a trend nowadays. Acid is thrown on the face of girl if she disapproves the proposal of boy. She is killed while walking on foot-over bridges or dragged into cars and autos. Its not what they decide for her, its her choice.
Laws are made for safety of girls but followed by none. Police can't be with us all the time we need to protect ourselves and the people around us. A girl lying naked raped by few animals; instead of helping her people make a group around her and few just pass by. Its our duty to help her. We can take the victim to nearby hospital and at least can wrap some clothes around her. We always can't depend on police to come and take an action and can't blame them later on. If we are not doing anything or helping we have no right to blame others. If a girl is teased by a group of people , we should never be afraid of helping her. We think by indulging ourselves in this matter, we are endangering our lives and we just turn around and walk. We all have some fear in our mind but if we pass by without helping we will always feel guilty . If something happens to her then we will think, if i and few others have would have stopped to help her she would have been alive, First step is all that matters. Maybe our first step inspires others too. Pepper sprays , deo and similar things should be kept as a prevention but without the help of people around us, all our efforts will go in vain.
We all must stand together and fight against the violence and crime against women. Unity is the only way to decrease its effect. Girls and boys hold the same stand in our nation. We should change ourselves only then we can change the world around us. We should never be afraid of doing the right thing. We should never step back. Maybe our single step saves the life of one. We all have grandma, ma, sister and daughter in our lives. We should start respecting them instead of abusing them. Mentality of people should be changed. Moral values should be inculcated in our new generation. Women is not a thing to be used and thrown, she has the right to live and no one can take that away from her. We all must promise to ourselves if we see such things happening around us we will raise our voice against it and we will unite and fight for HER rights. She is not weak by choice it is us only who have made her so vulnerable.
So stand together and fight to be a part of changing India.
